First Place Winner in the 2001 Hawaii Jewelers Association 'Bridal Jewelry' Design Competition. This 18kt white and yellow gold two-piece band is fastened together with functional white and yellow gold screws. The yellow gold half has a high polish, and the white gold half has a satin finish. The ring features eight waves regardless of size. The eight waves represent the eight major islands of Hawaii and the number eight is an infinity sign. Maui born artist, Gary Mukai has always had a deep passion for art. He received a B.S. in Art Education from Oregon State University. He enjoys working in a variety of art mediums and in recent years he has turned his focus toward designing and manufacturing fine jewelry right here in his Maui studio. Integrating his drawing and sculpting abilities to create "wearable" art has been both exciting and rewarding. Gary has been the recipient of several design awards from the Hawaii Jewelers Association and was honored with Designer of the Year, 2005-2006.
